We all have strengths and weaknesses, it’s inevitable. It’s important that we work on them to ensure that they remain our strengths, and that’s usually super easy for us to do. But what about our weaknesses? It’s so easy to neglect them because they’re hard, they take a whole lot more work, and sometimes can be disheartening. But one of my favorite quotes is to “Go the extra mile. It’s never crowded.” And you know what? That extra mile is filled with all those people who are working their weaknesses, so atleast you’ll be in good company!
So what’s the first step?
Stop avoiding the areas you feel weaker in and recognize what they are. Without this crucial step you’re letting your pride take over. It’s so refreshing once you acknowledge what it is you need to work on.
It could be an exercise in the gym that you hate or just aren’t good at…pull ups? running?
The next step is to write out steps to solving them…
If it’s a pullup, can you dedicate 5 mins before and after class to work on them? Have you asked a coach to watch your form? Have you asked them for tips on how to get your lats stronger so you can pull better?
If it’s running, can you spend 30 mins a day to work on it? Have you downloaded an app to help you with pacing? Have you asked a friend to become a running and accountability buddy?
Think outside the box and try to solve the problem you are having by making into an enjoyable experience!
The last step is to start working on them!
Once you know what they are and lay out a plan, it’s time to start working! This is actually the best part. You learn more about yourself, who you are, what you are willing to really put work and effort into. You will become more fulfilled and happier…especially when you see those weaknesses turning into strengths!
So today, start identifying what those weaknesses are and let’s all become those people on the side of the road that is less traveled!!
Have a fabulous day!
Yours in health,
Lauren
