I’ve struggled my entire life with perfection: being the perfect dancer (I danced competitively growing up), making the perfect grades, looking the perfect way I thought others wanted me to look, making decisions based on the opinions of others…the list goes on and on and on. And it was exhausting.
Honestly it wasn’t until I met my husband that I realized that he wasn’t wanting or needing me to be perfect in my everyday existence. He loved me the way I was, especially on my imperfect days.
He taught me how to grow from my weaknesses and most importantly, that life isn’t about perfection, it’s really about effort. And when you implement that into your life every single day, that’s where transformation happens. That’s how change occurs.
Then we made a major change in our business and quite honestly, this became the moment where I had to really put my big girl panties on and filter through what I learned about change.
I learned that I needed to expect myself to grow, to become better, and to want more out of life.
But also to expect that not everyone will understand. That your direction will be misinterpreted. AND I NEEDED TO BE OK WITH THAT.
Friends, don’t listen to their opinions. You’ll keep forcing yourself into old places you’ve already outgrown because you’re scared you won’t “perfectly understand” your new place or you don’t “perfectly” know what steps to anticipate.
It’s natural to go through many seasons in our life. And it’s really natural that everyone in your life isn’t in every season of your life with you. Don’t stay where you are just because you’re too comfortable to move on into the unknown. Don’t put a roof over your potential.
Bloom, blossom into something new. Otherwise, you’ll wither having done nothing because you were too scared of not perfectly doing what others wanted you to do.
I promise you, life is so much more than that. Every level of our life will require a completely different version of ourselves! Some people will think that because they don’t support you, it will hold you back….let me just tell you….God will put complete strangers in your path to get you where you’re supposed to be! The last 6 months of our life have been a complete testimony of that, and they have been amazing!
Have an awesome week, friends!! Be imperfectly perfect!
Yours in health,
Lauren
